Disaster Management: VSG discusses preparation measures for disasters

National Disaster Management Committee held its work coordination meeting at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday. Chairman of the Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win attended the meeting and made a speech.

The Vice Senior General said Myanmar, like other world nations, is facing the natural disasters due to the climate change. the recent weather patter caused heavy rainfall in Phyu Township in Bago Region on November 7th.

In addition, the remnants of Typhoon Yinxing which struck in the Philippines is moving north and northwest wards, the same route of the previous Typhoon Yagi. He emphasized to make necessary precaution measures for possibilities of floods and landslides.

The Vice Senior General called for collaborated efforts of all concerned parties to mitigate the disaster with least damages. The Union Ministers and officials discussed the plans for disaster response measures, providing relief and rescue measures and timely implementation of rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures. The Vice Senior General coordinated the needs upon the reports.
