Disaster Management: Union Minister addresses Disaster Risk Management Course

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win on Tuesday addressed the opening of the Disaster Risk Management Course No. 3/2023 at the Disaster Management Training School in Hinthada Township of Ayeyawaddy Region.

In his address, the Union Minister highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing disaster prevention,risk reduction, response and rehabilitation activities with relevant ministries and organizations. The Union Minister reiterated that the Ministry is accelerating to widely conduct community-based awareness sessions, capacity building courses and disaster preparedness and response trainings regionally, in cooperation with Region/State Governments, from the regional/state level to the ward/village level.

In addition, a natural disaster management training school was established in Hinthada in 2015 to serve as an institution-based awareness campaign and consecutive disaster management trainings had been conducted to share knowledge through practical activities, he added.

The training course No. 3/2023 intends for the trainees to study preventive, response and rehabilitation measures to be undertaken before, during and after the disaster.

Then, Ayeyarwaddy Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win delivered a speech. The 10-day short term training course joined by a total of 59 departmental personnel from the Ministries of Home Affairs, Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Cooperatives and Rural Development, Education, Health and Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement from Bago, Yangon and Ayeyawaddy regions as well as Mon State is set to be conducted till 22nd December.
