Disaster Management: Myanmar delegation attends the 12th AMMDM

Brunei hosted the 12th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management-AMMDM and related meeting at its capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan from October 23rd to 25th.

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win along with the ministers from ASEAN member states and ministers from China, Japan and Republic of Korea attended the meeting.

On the 25th of October, Union Minister Dr. Soe Win participated in the tree plantation ceremony in commemoration of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, and planted Gant Gaw sapling at designated place. This was followed by a commemorative ceremony for the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The Brunei Minister for Home Affairs extended greetings, and the Secretary-General of ASEAN sent a video message.

Then, a documentary video clips on 20th Anniversary of the Indian Ocean Tsunami was screened, featuring the interviews with the survivals, development progress for disaster management plans and preparation processes of Tsunami aftermath. The meeting concluded by screening video message delivered by the Head of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.
