Disaster Management: MOHA Union Minister visits Mon and Kayin States

Vice Chairman (1) of the National Disaster Management Committee Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae visited Mawlamyine of Mon State on Friday, and met with the staff under the ministry to give instructions. The Union Minister later visited the flood relief camps in Pa-an of Kayin State and provided relief items.

During the Coordination Meeting for Disaster Preparedness Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo reported on the opening of the relief camps, damages, temporary closure of schools, provisions for the affected people, inundation of monsoon paddy plantations and future plans.

The Union Minister provided the needs. They then viewed the clearing of debris along the Strand Road. On arrival at the relief camp in Shwe Yin Hmyaw Pyay Taw Aye Pagoda, the Union Minister provided relief supplies for over 1,400 affected individuals, observing the health care services rendered by the Public Health Department and catering services by the State Road Department.

They also visited the relief camps at Alin Thit Library, Basic Education Middle School (Branch) and No.4 Basic Education High School and provided relief supplies. At the State Government Office, the Union Minister met with the staff under the ministry and gave necessary instruction.
