The Bago Region Government is implementing the conservation of ancient heritage while striving to preserve the city's character.

Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win made an inspection tour on December 21st to oversee the progress of the work. As part of these efforts, the ancient gates at Hanthawady City Wall, near Theinni Gate and Taungoo Gate, are being renovated, along with landscaping works and the construction of a circular road around the moat.

Additionally, renovation work is underway at the historic Leik Pya Lake to provide a better recreation spot for the public. Similarly, the royal cart, drawn by 16 horses and used by King Bayintnaung, is being reconstructed according to the original design and size.

The Regional Government has entrusted this task to artisans from Maekhon Village, ensuring the grandeur of the royal cart based on historical references and Myanmar traditional architectural designs.
