Development Works: Agriculture works and irrigation facilities

Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo visited Shar Say Pho Village in Nay Pyi Taw Zeyathiri Township on Wednesday to oversee the seed production plantation.

The TBL Seed Production Company has planted cotton, sesame, sunflower and mung bean for seed production at the five-acre farmland. The long staple cotton has yielded some 900 to 1,000 viss per acre.

During the visit, the Council Chairman instructed for boosting production of crops and coordinated the needs for implementing contract farming system. They later proceeded to Paung Laung Dam and inspected the installation of Hydraulic Elevator Dam at the Spillway.

In Thayasu Village of Pyinmana Township, the Council Chairman inspected the thriving plantations which were replanted on the farmlands damaged by flood. On arrival at Paung Laung Diversion Weir, they inspected the irrigation process to over 21,000 acres catchment area, and plan to generate hydropower electricity using the surplus water.
