



State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing views round National Indoor Stadium-1 in Thuwunna of Thingangyun Township in Yangon Region on 26 December 2021.
First, the Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan reported on hosting sports events at local and international levels at the National Indoor Stadium-1, upgrade of the stadium, further maintenance and future plans. Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General said taking sports events must be encouraged to contribute to strong and dynamic patriotic spirit, nationalistic spirit and national characters.
At present, Myanmar’s sport is weak in development. Hence, it is necessary to consider the uplift of sport standard to meet appropriate standard. Efforts must be made for being famed Myanmar’s traditional sports to the world with inserting the Myanmar’s traditional sports into the contests. As the sport is basic for the youths, sports competitions need to be held at schools and universities.
The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs needs to create public areas for the public to take sport exercises and coordinates with the sports officers to hold the sports events. Uplifting the sports arena reflects safeguarding the State and improving the mindset of the youths.
Hence, efforts must be made for multiple development of sports sector within coming decade. The Senior General and party viewed round maintenance of the National Indoor Stadium-1. On arrival at the Myanmar Football Federation at the Youth Training Centre in Thuwunna, the Senior General heard reports on maintenance of the stadium, construction of more sport grounds, holding of Myanmar National League and international sports events by officials.
The Senior General stressed the need to nurture Myanmar footballers since their young age to easily seek the sports standard of the country as the players need to take adequate time for having skills of playing football encouraged by the large number of spectator.
The Sports and Youth Affairs Ministry, Education Ministry and Myanmar Football Federation have to join hands in nurturing the athletes in young age to become new generation players. The Youth Training Centre (Thwunna) must host not only football sport but track and field and other sport events. The Senior General and party visited the gym in the stadium.
