Development for SEZs: Central Body for Myanmar SEZs Held A Meeting

The Chairman of Central Body for Myanmar Special Economic Zones, Vice Chairman of State Administration Council, Deputy Commander In Chief of Defense Services, vice Senior General Soe win delivered a remark at the Central Body’s meeting (1/2021)  held at the meeting hall of the SAC Vice Chairman Office, Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday. 

In his remark at the meeting, the chairman of central body of Myanmar Economic Zones said that the state administration council set the 3 political objectives, 3 economic objectives and 3 social objectives since it took the state responsibilities on the first of February.  

During the four months of serving the state responsibilities, the council addressed the economic development of the country while carrying out the security measures of the state, rule of law and law and order. In serving the tasks for the development of the country, the special economic zones like the neighboring and other countries plays the role for the creation of job opportunities, technical transfer and economic development of the country.

For the economic development of the country, the special economic zones law was enacted in 2014 and Thilawa, Kyaukphyu and Dawei special economic zones have been implementing. The central body needs to carry out for the development of special economic zones which will facilitate the economic development. As the central body, central working body have been reformed and the management committees have been restructured, the development of the zones’ operation, works to be continued are needed to carry out systematically with at most efforts in line with the international procedures.

Next, the chairman of central body pointed out the achievement of Thilawa special economic zone, three economic objectives and the requirements for the development of Kyaukphyu and Dawei special economic zones and the work implementations to be done in the future for those two special economic zones like the achievement of Thilawa SEZ.

Then, the chairman of central working body for Myanmar Special Economic Zones, union minister Dr. Pwint Hsan and chairmen of Thilawa, Kyaukphyu and Dawei special economic zones management committees read the proposal letters and sought the approval. Afterward, the union ministers Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae, U Win shein, U Ko Ko Hlaing, U Khin Maung Yi, U Tin Htut Oo, U Myint Kyaing, U Aung Then Oo, union attorney general Dr. Thida Oo, Yangon Region administration council chairman U Hla Soe, Taninthayi Region administration council chairman U Tin Aung, Rakhine State administration council chairman Dr. Aung Kyaw Min, deputy minister U Min Htein clarified the relevant sectors for the successful implementation of Myanmar special economic zones and the secretary of central body union minister Dr. Pwint Hsan discussed the necessary supplements.

Then, the chairman of central body, vice chairman of state administration council gave the speech of conclusion and coordinated necessaries.
