Development for health sector: Union Ministers inspected pharmaceutical factory (Insein)

The Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than and Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win together with the Director generals, managing directors, rectors, medical superintendents. Professors/heads of departments and officials visited Pharmaceutical Factory (Insein) in the morning on 1st September.

At the meeting of BPI Pharmaceutical Museum, the Union Minister for Industry said that as the Ministry of Health is main customer of the products of the Ministry of Industry, the special invitation is conducted and the work process of the factory is clarified.

In accordance with the guidance of the Prime Minister, the construction of BPI Pharmaceutical Museum was completed within 2022-2023 fiscal year and the museum could be opened on 14th August, 2023.

Moreover, since the Prime Minister guided to prioritize in the production of medicines for the hospitals under the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defense, the professionals from the Ministry of Defense were invited to the factory and conducted necessary coordination on 17th January, 2023. 

The Prime Minister inspected Pharmaceutical Factory (Insein) on 14th August and gave a guideline to put efforts for research works to produce new medicines. Next, the Managing Director of Myanmar Pharmaceutical Enterprise clarified the construction of BPI Pharmaceutical Museum and installing of Snake Anti-Venom Freeze Dryer Machine.

In responding to the clarification, the Union Minister for Health said it’s honorable to pay visit the Pharmaceutical Factory (Insein) at the invitation of the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Health purchases and use the 25% requirement of medicines and medical related materials for the whole country from the Ministry of Industry.  

For the production of modernized and qualified medicines, the study tour together with the rectors, professors, specialists and medical superintendents under the Ministry of Health and collaboration will be continued. 

Then, the Union Ministers and officials viewed the machines and equipment used in the production of medicines, CEP Plant and ASRA Warehouse.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister for industry attended the annual meeting of Myanmar Pharmaceuticals & Medical Equipment Entrepreneurs Association held at the Pharmaceutical Factory (Insein).

At the meeting, the Union Minister clarified the guidelines of the Prime Minister for the cooperation with the private pharmaceutical factories in the production of medicines to supply domestic requirement of medicines and medical related materials.

Afterward, the Union Minister inspected main laboratory including designing of structure, status of completing installation of machine and the works to be done and gave the necessary instructions.

At the meeting hall of the Research Center in the evening, the Union Minister heard the reports of General manager regarding with conducting research works and plans to be carried out, status of experimental producing new formular of medicine for the hepatitis patients and the Union Minister instructed to address the guidelines of the Prime Minister to accelerate the medical research works.
