Denmark's King Frederik X ascended the throne

King Frederik X stepped out onto the balcony at Christiansborg Castle as Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced the change of throne. The newly crowned king paid tribute to his mother’s legacy and he said that his mother Majesty Queen Margrethe II has been on the throne of Denmark for 52 years.
For half a century she has moved with the times, taking our common heritage as her starting point. She will forever be remembered as an exceptional monarch. She has managed to be at one with the kingdom like few others. He expressed his hope to become a gathering king of tomorrow and said it was a task he had been working on all his life.
