Riders working for food delivery service Deliveroo held a protest in Paris on Wednesday. The protest took place at Place de la Republique square after the British-based company removed the minimum wage of 4.70 euros for a single delivery at the end of July.

The delivery workers say the changes will make it very difficult for them to earn a decent wage at the end of their shift.

A Deliveroo spokesman told Reuters TV on Thursday that the company was now paying higher wages overall to riders after cutting pay for short trips and increasing pay for longer ones, which will take into account factors such as food preparation time and traffic. Deliveroo riders will hold another protest on Saturday and are calling for a simultaneous customer boycott.
