Deep Sea Port Project: Implementation of Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone

Aiming to successfully implement Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone Deep Sea Port Project, a work coordination meeting on conditions precedent between Myanmar and CITIC was held at the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw on 28th February.

Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Kan Zaw in his capacity as chairman of the Myanmar Special Economic Zone Central Working Body stressed on drafting development plan in conformity with the changing trend of age in order to implement deep sea port construction project promptly.

Next, Vice Chairman of the Myanmar Special Economic Zone Central Working Body, Union Minister U Tun Ohn clarified the preparations to implement the deep sea port project in timely manner as the project could bring multiple benefits to both Myanmar and China by promoting trade and strengthening friendly relations.

Then, the officials from CITIC Consortium Myanmar Port Investment Limited and departmental officials made discussions on current work implementations and further work plans of conditions precedent and EIA/SIA matters. The Chairman of the Myanmar Special Economic Zone Central Working Body coordinated on the discussions and delivered closing remarks.
