The death toll in Zimbabwe from Cyclone Idai rose to at least 64 people in the eastern part of the country. The tropical storm has already pounded neighbouring Malawi and Mozambique. The latter has cut electricity exports to South Africa, which led to rolling blackouts in Africa's most industrialised economy.
The storm is the worst to hit the country since Cyclone Eline in February 2000. The country has faced a severe drought this year. A United Nations humanitarian agency says 5.3 million people will require food aid.
