A Dawn of Devotion: Mandalay's sacred rituals

In Mandalay, the revered Maha Muni Buddha Image drew pilgrims from far and wide. At dawn, a procession of devout laypersons, led by the venerable Yaytaw Sayadaw offered a sacred ritual.

They cleansed the serene face of the Buddha Image, followed by offerings of gold foils, water and flowers. Devotees also took Sabbaths and poured water to the Bodh tree. Throughout Mandalay, pilgrims thronged to other prominent pagodas, and among them, well-wishers generously donated charity feasts, extending hospitality to all comers.
