Dawei Special Economic Zone: Senior General inspect the project site

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspected the implementations of Dawei Special Economic Zone and Deep-Sea Port in NaBuLae area, 17 miles northwest of Dawei on Friday.

Union Minister for Commerce U Aung Naing Oo and Dawei SEZ Management Committee Chairman reported on the work undertakings, hindrances of the works due to various circumstances, completion of works and arrangements for the remaining tasks and future plans.

The Prime Minister discussed that Dawei SEZ could benefit not only for the country but also the international community as well. It could provide transportation facility, connecting East Asia countries with South Asia and Gulf regions via Vietnam Port and western region with East Asia including Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. He stressed the needs to successful implementation of the project.

The Union Ministers and the Senior Military officers exchanged views on the needs in implementing the project. The Prime Minister and party later inspected the Dawei Special Economic Zone and the chosen sites for the Deep-Sea port.
