Damages and Losses: “MOCHA” damaged to religious buildings, schools, clinics

The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA” on the Bay of Bengal caused surging the tide, blowing strong winds, falling heavy rains and flash floods.

Due to the incident, 864 houses in villages and wards of Regions/ States, 11 religious buildings, 16 monasteries, 64 school buildings, 14 clinics, 7 communication towers, 71 lamp posts and 38 departmental buildings were damaged and destroyed. 

The incident caused 1 local resident from Sittway, 1 from Taunggup and 1 from Yay Kyi Township, altogether 3 dead and some got injured.

The detailed investigations are underway in Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Min Pyar, Myay Pon, Ponna Kyun, Rathae Taung, Pauktaw, Buthidaung in Rakhine State and Paletwa in Chin State.

At the cyclone-affected areas, the rescue teams in respective regions and states are undertaking recuse measures together with volunteering organizations and concencerned officials went to the sites and provided necessary assistances.
