
From 8th to 10th April, Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Aung Myaing accompanied by concerned officials made inspections at earthquake affected railway infrastructures and stations along Nay Pyi Taw- Mandalay railway section.
The inspection was also conducted at the Carriage and Wagon Factory in Myitnge and Sagaing Bridge (Inwa) as well as the Diesel Locomotive Factory, the Central Railway Station and staff housings in Mandalay. During the inspection, the Deputy Minister stressed to ensure systematic examination on level alignment of the entrance and exist of the bridge and railway embankments, rapid restoration of damaged railway embankments and bridges and accuracy of super elevations on railway curves.
On arrival at Sagaing Bridge (Inwa), the Deputy Minister made thorough inspection at damaged areas and made discussions on further restoration measures. For, the damaged factories and staff housings, the Deputy Minister instructed on detailed inspections on resilience of the buildings, systematic restoration process meeting set standards, necessary water and power supply during restoration period. He also emphasized on safety measures and systematic usage of reuseable materials without wasting them.
