Images of powerful waves crashing onto the coast at Lacanau, in Gironde, as an unusual swell for the summer season sweeps across the Atlantic coastline, with waves reaching heights of 4 to 5 meters, according to Meteo-France.

Swimming has been banned to avoid any danger, while many curious onlookers have gathered to observe the phenomenon.  On Tuesday and Wednesday, waves of up to 5 meters high arrive on the French coast, especially on the beaches of the South-West.
