Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA” : Houses, religious buildings, schools damaged

The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA” on the Bay of Bengal hit on 14th May caused losses and damages of Myanmar.

According to the statistics of losses and damages in 11 regions and states until 15th May evening, 11,532 houses from 769 wards/villages, 73 religious buildings, 47 monasteries, 163 schools, 29 hospitals/clinics, 11 communication towers, 119 lamp posts, 5 transformers, 1 market, 2 airports and 112 departmental buildings were damaged and 21 including security members who were undertaking rescue measures and locals were dead by the Cyclone “MOCHA”, it is learnt.

The rescue teams that have been formed in respective regions and states are undertaking rescue and rehabilitation tasks together with volunteer organizations at the cyclone-battered areas.
