Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA”: Dept. of Meteorology & Hydrology issues storm warning

Department of Meteorology and Hydrology issued the cyclonic storm warning No. 33/2023 at 7 am on Monday. It states that according to the observations at 5:30 am M.S.T, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA” crossing interior near Matupi of Chin State and moving to North-Northeastwards has weakened into a Cyclonic Storm.

It continues to move North-Northeastwards near Katha of Upper Sagaing Region.It continues to move North-Northeastwards and the present stage for Sagaing and Mandalay regions and Kachin and Shan states is coded brown. The Cyclonic Storm has crossed to Rakhine and Chin States, the present stage for Rakhine and Chin states is coded green.

The Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA” is likely to weaken into land depression during next 6 hours and continues to move North-Northeastwards and reach to Sagaing and northern Mandalay regions and Kachin and northern Shan states. “MOCHA” is likely to weaken into a low pressure area over Kachin State.
