







Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Mya Tun Oo attended the launching ceremony of Myanma Port Authority Museum on Friday morning at the MPA’s headquarters.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, region ministers, the Permanent Secretary, and other concerned officials also attended the event. The Union Minister made a speech at the ceremony, praising the long history of the MPA. Then, Yangon Region Chief Minister and the MPA Managing Director formally inaugurated the museum and, the Union Minister unveiled the signboard, sprinkled scented water on it.
The Union Minister and party later toured the museum. Myanma Port Authority (MPA), established in 1755 ME alongside the founding of Yangon City, has a long history of developing port activities in line with state and public economic policies. The newly opened Myanma Port Authority Museum displays historical images and documents, allowing visitors to view the MPA’s full history and preserving a legacy for future generations.
The Union Minister and party then proceeded to Sule jetty to inspect the installation of the Weight Bridge and renovation works. They also oversaw the jetties along Twantay Canal in SarParChaung in Dala Township, including vessel entry and exit points, the Twantay Canal Development Project site, and the LetPanKone Customs Post at 3.5 miles. After receiving briefings from officials, the Union Minister instructed a focus on achieving customs targets, and expediting the Korea-funded Twantay Canal Development Project.
