Current Situation: Clarification on progress in Shan State (North)

Leader of the Information Team of the State Administration Council Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun clarified the situations in Shan State (North) on Thursday.

The Maj-Gen said MNDAA terrorists launched attack to the areas near Lashio Township starting the 3rd of July. Similarly, TNLA terrorists launched attacks, using short range missiles, targeting to the residential areas in Naung Cho, Kyaukme and Mogok Townships.

As a result, religious buildings and public infrastructure were destroyed and local residents lost their lives and properties. According to updated lists, 30 local residents including 5 children were killed and 55 others injured in Lashio. Many residents fled their homes and take refuge at the safer places in other towns and villages.

He expressed thanks to those who render humanitarian assistance to the affected people. Fake news on the control of Lashio has been spread, accompanied by various fabrications including a number of poses on social media platform in Chinese language.

The terrorists forcefully recruited locals including senior citizens and underage children for their destructive acts as they have numerous losses of their members during the armed attacks. The Maj-Gen pledged the security of residents who wish to take refuge at the safer places.
