




Chairman of the Myanmar National Cultural Central Committee SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San on Friday afternoon addressed the Committee’s 7th meeting at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.
In the meeting, the Union Minister said that cultural heritage evidence found in the ancient cities, literary evidence and contemporary records of neighboring countries show that Myanmar people have listened to religious teachings, had high-level cultural customs and established the own national culture with profound fine arts along with high native dignity.
Everyone must preserve the tangible and intangible cultural heritage as a national responsibility. Efforts are being made to make the Mrauk-U Cultural Heritage Region a World Heritage Site. 48 ancient cultural heritage areas are being protected and preserved in accordance with the law.
He also urged the relevant departments to cooperate in order to enact laws that are important in the preservation of Myanmar cultural heritage. It will also be mandatory to explain the law and by-law to the public and carry out awareness activities, the Union Minister added.
Also, Vice Chairman of the Committee Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin reported cooperation with international organizations for the identification and preservation of cultural heritage, actions related to raising national pride and ongoing works.
And, Secretary of the Committee Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture explained implementation of the decisions made in the 6th meeting. Also, the committee members made discussions on ancient cultural heritage and ethnic traditions preservation and protection.
