Cultural Ties: 2020: Myanmar-China Year Of Culture And Tourism

The year 2020 is designated as Myanmar-China Year of Culture and Tourism.

The  Launching event was held during the visit of President Xi Jinping in Nay Pyi Taw.

Many people expressed their belief that the launch of Myanmar-China Year of Culture and Tourism is conducive to strengthening social and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, and enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Honorary President, Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Yang Chuanyu said “China and Myanmar are linked by mountains and rivers in terms of cultures, and the peoples' feelings and thoughts are also interlinked. And just like the Lantsang River and the Ayeyawady River, two long rivers with long histories, the cultural ties and friendship between China and Myanmar will keep moving forward.”

Member, Myanmar China Friendship Association, Shwe Cynn said “It is our fate that China and Myanmar have become neighbors. The profound friendship between China and Myanmar has been maintained to this day, and I believe that future generations of the two countries will continue to maintain this friendship.”

Myanmar Tourism Federation Vice Chairman also expressed that the launch of Myanmar-China Year of Culture and Tourism will promote the development of relations between the two countries in all aspects, and will attract more Chinese tourists to Myanmar.

Vice Chairman, Myanmar Tourism Federation, Ohn Myint said “China and Myanmar are neighbors with shared borders and "Paukphaw" friendship, so I hope that tourism between the two countries will continue to develop. The Myanmar Tourism Federation is also trying very hard, and we believe there will be a rapid development for tourism.”

In addition to the Myanmar-China Year of Culture and Tourism, the two countries will hold a series of joint celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, strengthen social and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, tourism, religion, and media and to deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
