Cultural Significance: Celebration of Traditional Myanmar New Year Water Festival

According to traditional customs, a peaceful and joyful Thingyan festival was celebrated at the Ministry of Immigration and Population in Nay Pyi Taw on April 12.

During the ceremony, Union Minister U Myint Kyaing spoke about the significance of the Thingyan festival. The attendees also observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the victims who lost lives and the damages caused by the recent strong earthquake.

Following this, the Union Minister and the Deputy Ministers performed the traditional water splashing with the staff and their families in accordance with Myanmar's customs. Traditional Myanmar New Year snacks were also served as refreshments.
