A collection of valuable cultural relics unearthed from the tomb of Fu Hao, China’s first female general and the wife of an emperor of the Shang Dynasty (1600 B.C.-1046 B.C.), has become a focal point in the new building of the Yinxu Museum, which officially opened to the public in central China’s Henan Province on Monday.
Her tomb was discovered in 1976 near Anyang and her story was mostly recorded on oracle bone inscriptions found at Yin Ruins. As a prominent politician and military strategist during the Shang Dynasty, Fu Hao achieved remarkable military achievements.
The unearthed bronze yue, an axe-shaped weapon, serves as a tangible testament to her notable military status. Also, hundreds of bone-made hairpins, as well as items such as a palette, ivory cups, ivory tigers and a large number of weapons were unearthed from her tomb.
