Cultural Preservation: Roundtable discussion on Myanmar traditional orchestra

A roundtable discussion about the Myanmar traditional orchestra (Myanma Saing Waing) was held at the YinKyayHmu Yadanar hall of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture on Monday with the attendance by Union Minister U Tin Oo Lwin.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said that Myanma Saing Waing is an artistic organization that can honorably reflect the level of music standard and traditional culture of Myanmar people and all the basic instruments composing in Saing Waing are the national instruments originated in Myanmar. Since Yadanapon era, Myanma Saing Waing, used in royal ceremonies, is composed of percussion, leather and wind instruments.

The Union Minister reiterated that every country is making exerted efforts in various aspects for cultural preservation not to fade away their own traditional culture, and Myanmar government is striving to promote the sustainable development of Myanmar cultural and artistic institutions by holding the Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts competitions annually.

He extended his wishes for the cooperation of artists in further cultural preservation activities. Then, the Director of Fine Arts Department reported on the purpose of holding of the discussion session. And, Saing Waing professional U Hein Tint gave a brief discussion about Myanma Saing Waing and replied to queries raised by the attendees.
