










Thai Traditional Songkran Festival was held at the residence of Thai Ambassador to Myanmar in Yangon on Saturday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe participated in the festival together with the Chief Minister, high ranking officials, diplomats from foreign missions in Yangon and officials as well as Thai citizens in Myanmar.
The festival commenced with offering of flowers and lights to the Buddha Image, followed by taking Five Precepts from the Khaymar Rama Sayadaw. After listening to the sermons delivered by the members of the Sangha, the Deputy Prime Minister, and congregation donated offertories.
The Sayadaw later sprinkled holy water, and the congregation shared the merits gained. The attendees then poured water to the Buddha Image and offered the coins, before touring the festive areas displaying Thai traditional foods and other fun activities.
The Songkran Festival then continued with the greetings, extended by Thai Ambassador. The attendees later enjoyed splashing of water, while taking part in the entertainment programs.
