Cultural Exchange Program: Mekong-Ganga Food Festival in Yangon

 “Mekong-Ganga Food Festival”, organized by Indian Embassy in collaboration with Indian Women’s Association of Yangon and Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs Network, was held at the Secretariat in Yangon on 23rd February.

The event aims to promote friendship between the two countries through cultural exchanges and sharing experiences. Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Kyaw Soe Win attended the Festival and delivered a speech.

The festival featured variety of booths, showcasing Myanmar and Indian Traditional foods and handicrafts. The event commenced with lighting oil lamps, followed by the performance of songs and dances from both India and Myanmar. Then, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Abhay Thakur, Chairpersons of Indian Women’s Association of Yangon and Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs Network gave remarks respectively.

After wards, Union Minister U Kyaw Soe Win delivered a speech, saying that Myanmar and India are neighboring countries with long-lasting friendship and profound people-to people relations. He also expressed his believe that organizing food festivals could help promote culinary tourism between the two countries. 

The Union Minister urged all to participate in promoting the Myanmar- India Tourism development. Then, the festival was inaugurated by cutting the ribbon, followed by the cultural performance of Myanmar and India artistes.
