Cuba: Officials have held talks with United States

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said on Friday that officials from his country have recently held talks with representatives from the United States. Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump hinted that his administration may take steps against Cuba after military operations in Iran end.

Diaz-Canel said the conversations have been aimed at seeking solutions through dialogue. He said, "this is an issue unfolding as part of a highly sensitive process," adding that it "demands enormous, arduous efforts to find solutions and create spaces for understanding that will allow to move forward and steer clear of confrontation." He had earlier said that discussions must take place without pressure.
