Cricket Tournament: 2024 Regions and States Cricket Tournament kicked off

The opening ceremony of the "2024 Regions and States Cricket Tournament" aimed at inspiring a new generation of cricket enthusiasts was held at Wunna Theikdhi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.  

Present at the occasion were the members of the State Administration Council Daw Dwe Bu, Porel Aung Thein, Dr. Hmu Thang, Dr. Ba Shwe, U Shwe Kyein, U Yan Kyaw, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, departmental personnel, chairman and relevant officials of the Myanmar Cricket Federation including coaches and athletes.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan underlined that the aims of tournament is draw the attraction of the youth on the Cricket sport and it’ development.

He called for special emphasis on the improvement of Myanmar’s cricket sport together with Myanmar Cricket Federation. All athletes are urged to show off their abilities and qualities in competition with sportsmanship spirit. Following his remark, the Union Minister inaugurated “2024, State and Region Cricket Tournament”. 

The ceremony was followed by the sport oaths recitation by the athletes from constant teams. Subsequently, the members of the State Administration Council, along with Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and party warmly greeted the athletes and witnessed the U-25 women’s cricket match between Mon State team and Kayin State team.

The "2024 State and Region Cricket Tournament" will run from 25th March to 3rd April at Wunna Theikdhi Stadium and all cricket enthusiasts are invited to enjoy the vibrant and thrilling matches for free.
