Crackdown on Online Frauds: Efforts to eradicate the online scams

The online scam and online gambling are being eradicated and the illegal foreign nationals engaging in these unlawful acts are being exposed and extradited through Myanmar-China-Thai Trilateral Cooperation.

On 6th April, 5 Ghanaians and 10 Philippines who entered Myanmar illegally via neighboring countries and involved in online fraud, online gambling and unlawful acts at Myawaddy, Kyauk Khat area were detained. From 30th January to 6th April 2025, a total of 8,739 illegal foreign nationals have been detained and 7,142 of them were already deported to their respective countries in line with laws and procedures.

Rest of the detainees are monitored and detained systematically and ready to be deported. The government is intensifying efforts to eliminate telecom fraud which have been on the rise in border areas making concerted efforts with the international communities and neighbouring countries.
