Crackdown on Online Frauds: 200 Chinese nationals to hand over after necessary procedures

The government has intensified efforts to identify and deport foreign nationals engaged in online fraud, illegal gambling and unlawful immigration, exploiting the current border situation. 

These crimes are often enabled by self-serving individuals, including some Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs). On February 14 at 7:00 PM, authorities apprehended 200 trafficked Chinese nationals in the Myawaddy-Shwe Kokko area in connection with fraud and gambling cases. They had been lured by promises of lucrative employment in Thailand.

They will be handed over to Chinese authorities after the necessary investigation, in line with procedures. Myanmar is also collaborating with relevant countries to expedite the process of identifying and extradition foreign nationals linked to crimes in the area.
