Crackdown on Online Frauds: 150 foreign nationals detained on February 24

The government is actively working to effectively suppress crimes occurring in border areas, including illegal online gambling and online fraud.

On February 24, authorities have successfully identified and detained an additional 150 foreign nationals who entered the Myawaddy, Shwe Kokko, and KK Park areas through illegal routes. 

The detained foreign nationals are being processed for swift repatriation to their respective countries. Necessary personal information and records are being collected by coordinated departmental teams, with operations being completed on a daily basis.

From January 30, 2025, to February 24, 2025, a total of 2,370 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myanmar have been identified and detained. Of these, 673 individuals have been systematically transferred to their respective countries via Thailand in accordance with legal procedures. The remaining 1,697 foreign nationals are ready to be handed over to their respective countries.  The 2,370 detained foreign nationals hail from countries including China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nepal, Thailand, Rwanda, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, and China (Taipei), with the majority being Chinese nationals, according to reports.
