Crackdown on Online Frauds: 109 foreign nationals detained on February 23

Efforts are being intensified to expose and deport the foreign nationals who entered Myanmar illegally and engaged in online fraud, online gambling and unlawful acts in Myawaddy-Shwe Kokko and KK Park area.

On 23rd February, a total of 109 foreign nationals were detained. The necessary records and personal information of the detainees have been compiled to deport them to their respective countries promptly. From 30th January to 23rd February, a total of 2,220 illegal foreign nationals were detained. Among them 673 detainees have already been deported to their respective countries via Thailand and the rest of the detainees are ready to be deported.

The government is making exerted efforts in eliminating online fraud, online gambling and unlawful acts across regions and states which can harm the interest of the nation and people with the collaboration of the citizens and international organizations. Likewise, the relevant officials are making strenuous efforts in exposing and taking actions against those who commited unlawful acts effectively.
