Crackdown in Myawady: Efforts to eradicate online fraud case

The government is making exerted efforts to eliminate online frauds, online gambling and unlawful acts which have been on the rise in border areas.

On 16th February, a total of 231 illegal foreign nationals have been detained in Myawaddy-Shwe Kokko and KK Park area and the necessary records and resumes are compiled to extradite them to their respective countries. From 30th January to 16th February, a total of 1,030 illegal foreign nationals have been detained. Among them, 61 foreign nationals have been extradited to Thailand in line with the existing rule and regulations and the rest of the detained foreign nationals are ready to be extradited.

Xu Yuan Shun, Chinese Citizen said "I arrived in Bangkok on 3rd March, 2024 to work there as I was told to that I will have a job which will pay me 12,000 yuan per month. And, I was sent to Shwe Kokko to work under a company owned by a Chinese citizen. I had to work as an online scammer for 16 hours a day for 9 months. I only received 2,000 Baht per month. "

Myanmar is making collaborative efforts with the relevant countries to accelerate the process of identifying the foreign nationals engaged in online frauds, online gambling and unlawful acts to transfer them to their respective countries.
