A Crackdown Action Against Crimes in the Mekong River Basin

A crackdown action against crimes in the Mekong River Basin was held in the Mengmo waters of Laos on Wednesday to enhance law enforcement cooperation among the four regional countries.

Titled “Vision-2024”, the joint exercise this year took place in the Mengmo waters, 11 kilometers away from the upper reaches of the Golden Triangle which is notorious for drug production and trafficking.

The joint action this year was set with the background of combating various cross-border crimes in the Mekong River Basin.

It included mobile interception, water inspection, and land inspection, aiming at comprehensively testing and enhancing the cooperation capabilities and practical level of the law enforcement agencies of the four countries in combating drug-related crimes, smuggling, wire fraud, and kidnapping.
