COVID-19 Update: 54 New COVID-19 Cases Reported on August 17

The Ministry of Health has been accelerating COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment measures and procedures. The Ministry reported 54 new COVID-19 cases at 8 p.m. on Wednesday after testing 6,833 patients within 24 hours.
At the time of the report, 1 COVID-19 positive patient died due to the disease while 27 patients have recovered. Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Myanmar have reached 614,510 with 19,437 deaths and 593,145 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospitals.
The World’s worst-hit countries are the United States of America, India, Brazil, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Korea, Italy, Russian Federation and Turkiye, according to the World Health Organization. Globally, as of 5:03pm CEST, 17 August 2022, there have been over 589 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, including over 6.43 million deaths.
