COVID-19 Update: 49 New COVID-19 Cases Reported On August 16

The Ministry of Health has been accelerating COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment measures and procedures. The Ministry reported 49 new COVID-19 cases at 8 p.m. on Tuesday after testing 8,699 patients within 24 hours.
At the time of the report, 1 COVID-19 positive patient died due to the disease while 19 patients have recovered. Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Myanmar have reached 614,456 with 19,436 deaths and 593,118 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospitals.
The World’s worst-hit countries are the United States of America, India, Brazil, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Russian Federation and Turkiye, according to the World Health Organization. Globally, as of 5:12pm CEST, 16 August 2022, there have been over 588 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, including over 6.43 million deaths.
