


As a preparation for possible surge of COVID-19 patients, plans are underway to build a temporary hospital at a primary school building in Pathein Township.
As of 3rd October, there are 129 confirmed patients of COVID-19 in Pathein People's Hospital, and there are 68 patients remain hospitalizing at present.
Medical Superintendent, Pathein People's Hospital, Dr Than Min Htut said "We are going to use the newly built Kothein Basic Primary School Building as a COVID-19 treatment center. The building is a square shape, and three parts from the front are one storey structure, and the back part is a two-story one. We are planning to use two-story structure as the treatment center which can accommodate 88 patients. We will also installed CCTV, Wifi and air-condition."
Well-wishers are donating cash assistance for Pathein People's Hospital to fulfill the necessary assistance for COVID-19 treatment.
Director, Road Department (Ayeyawady Region), Yan Naing Zaw said "Today, we made over 18 million kyats cash donation for COVID-19 Testing Device for Pathein People's Hospital and setting up of temporary hospital. We made this donation with the contribution of our staff members, the retired service personnel who have assigned duty in Pathein and entrepreneurs from Pathein."
Donor, Royal Ayar Creative & Construction Co. Ltd,., Nyi Nyi Tun said "Since the COVID-19 Testing Device in Pathein can test only two lab specimen per one time.
So, we need to send to Yangon for laboratory test. In order to tackle this issue, we donate cash for adding more capacity for the testing device."
It is learnt that 12 million kyats will cost for adding two modules at the GeneXpert for COVID-19 test, and the temporary hospital is expected to spend between 30 to 40 million kyats.
