Court Martial adjudication:Court Martial adjudicated ex-Lt-Gen and ex-Brig-Gen

Ex-Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun took personal benefits against the State’s foreign exchange policy, essential goods policy and other economic policies while serving the duties of the member of the State Administration Council, the Chairman of the Myanmar Investment Commission, the Chairman of the Foreign Exchange Supervisory Committee and Central Committee for Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods, and committed betrayal to the State treason violating the roadmap and objectives adopted by the State.

Although the Central Bank of Myanmar sold US dollars for importing palm oil to be sold at the reference price, he intentionally failed to take action against the persons who raised the price of palm oil rather than the reference price set by the government. Moreover, he partook in the case, taking bribes given by companies applying his rank and authority, illegally keeping foreign exchange currencies in hand, and participating in civilian businesses by breaking directives related to the military disciplines.

Hence, he was indicted under relevant sections of laws and the Court Martial charged him under relevant laws and adjudicated his cases and sentenced him to suffer transportation for the term of a 20-year term equal to a life sentence.

Furthermore, ex-Brig-Gen Yan Naung Soe serving the duties of Joint Secretary of the Central Committee for Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods took personal benefits against the economic policies of the State and committed betrayal to the State treason together with ex Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun with failure to violate the roadmap and objectives adopted by the State by violating doing in conformity with foreign exchange policy, essential good policy and other economic policies.

He also exchanged foreign currency with Myanmar kyats for businesspersons by applying his rank and authority, accepted foreign currency and Myanmar kyats from businesspersons, created connections between businesspersons with ex-Lt Gen Moe Myint Tun, illegally kept foreign currencies in hand, and participated in the civilian businesses with violation against directives related to the military disciplines.

As such, he was indicted under relevant sections of laws and the Court Martial adjudicated his cases, charged him under the relevant laws and sentenced him to suffer transportation for the term of a 20-year term equal to a life sentence.
