Costa Rican President-elect makes fight against drug trafficking a top priority

Costa Rica's President-elect, Laura Fernandez, has placed the fight against drug trafficking on the top of her agenda as she begins her term in office, stating that she is counting on the support of her main allies, El Salvador — with its maximum-security prisons and strict crackdown — and the United States. "She strongly believe in the mutual support they can give each other", she said during a press conference a day after her landslide victory.
