COP29 Nepali President urges to redirect resources for humanity

President Poudel urges global leaders to redirect resources to protect human civilization in his address to the Climate Action Summit in COP-29. President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the vast resources spent for arms should instead be redirected for adaptation and mitigation efforts to protect human civilization, and bequeath a habitable planet to future generations.

In his statement as the Leader of Nepali Delegation to the CoP29 World Leaders Climate Action Summit underway in Baku, Azerbaijan on Tuesday, the President said countries like Nepal are compelled to divert their meagre resources, originally allocated for poverty reduction, towards adaptation and mitigation, which is a grave injustice.

He also called for urgent operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund, which is intended to support the vulnerable developing countries.
