Coordination Meeting : Work Committee on rehabilitation of livelihood held

The coordination meeting (2/2025) of the Work Committee on Rehabilitation of Livelihood was held at the collective meeting hall, Office No. (16), Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Nay Pyi Taw on December 31.

The Work Committee Chairman and Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development, U Hla Moe, attended and addressed the meeting. In his address, the Union Minister stated that the committee has prioritized and expedited departmental actions regarding its duty to quickly rehabilitate affected livelihood activities until they are restored.

Depending on fund availability, necessary tasks to be continued in the 2026-2027 fiscal year should be commenced swiftly starting from March and April. He noted that rehabilitation works, including restoring basic infrastructure, MSME activities, and agricultural and livestock farming, also create employment and essentially constitute the rehabilitation of livelihoods.

He urged members to discuss any special matters for the committee, specific issues requiring presentation, or matters needing integrated implementation, including the status of support provided by the Livelihood Rehabilitation Work Committee members for the areas severely affected by the Mandalay earthquake and the continued assistance plans.

Following this, the Work Committee Secretary explained the status of rehabilitation works carried out, the status of rural infrastructure rehabilitation provided, the status of livelihood rehabilitation support provided, donations, and plans for continued rehabilitation assistance. Subsequently, Permanent Secretaries, Directors-General, and responsible officials from the member departments of the Livelihood Rehabilitation Work Committee explained, by department, the support provided in seeds, inputs, and capital for agriculture and livestock farming in disaster-affected areas, efforts to secure employment opportunities and increase family income, and the status of vocational training courses conducted.

Regarding the presentations, the Work Committee Chairman Union Minister emphasized inter-ministerial coordination and cooperation among committee member ministries and supplemented necessary guidance, it’s reported.
