






The coordination meeting of the National Natural Disaster Management Committee was held Monday afternoon at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw.
Chairman of the National Natural Disaster Management Committee and Vice President U Nyo Saw attended the meeting and delivered an opening address.
In his remarks, Vice President U Nyo Saw stated that the purpose of holding the meeting was for the National Committee, which is primarily responsible for disaster management in Myanmar, to review the completion of rehabilitation efforts following damages and losses caused by climate change impacts and previous natural disasters.
The meeting was also intended to understand and coordinate preparedness, preventive measures, and response readiness arrangements undertaken by ministries, Nay Pyi Taw, regions, and states for potential future natural disasters. He also provided guidance on making the necessary advance preparations.
Afterwards, Vice Chairmen of the Committee, Lt-Gen. Nyunt Win Swe and Dr. Soe Win, explained the preparatory measures that had already been undertaken. Attendees also presented sector-wise preparedness activities aimed at minimizing losses and damages from possible natural disasters, ensuring timely response capabilities, and preparations for post-disaster rehabilitation and recovery operations.
Subsequently, the Committee Chairman, Vice President coordinated and addressed the necessary matters arising from the presentations and delivered concluding remarks, it’s reported.
