






The 2nd coordination meeting on uniformity of road markings, signs and signals in line with the by-law and directives was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on January 12 with the attendance of Union Minister Admiral Tin Aung San, Union Minister for Construction, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Chief Ministers of Regions and States, deputy ministers, chairpersons of the supervisory boards of Union Territory, Regions and States ministers for road transportations, Yangon and Mandalay Mayors and officials.
At the meeting, the union minister Admiral Tin Aung San said in accordance with the guidance of the head of state, the Central Supervisory Board for the harmonization of road markings, signs and signals and Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw, Regions and States Supervisory Boards have been formed.
The Central Supervisory Board held coordination meeting and is implementing for the harmonization of road markings, signs and signals in the entire nation by setting the work plans. The Central Supervisory Board is supervising and giving guidelines timely regarding the work processes to be implemented by the ministries, departments and development committees which are practically managing the roads, the work plans to be supervised by the region supervisory boards, the road safety audit and advices.
The regions and states chief ministers need to implement the road safety audit and advices as fast as possible and the completion and improvements are needed to report. Next, the Chairman of Central Supervisory Board deputy minister U Aung Myaing clarified the forming and duty assign for the supervisory and the road safety audit of central board and advices and the advantages and disadvantages in the ground inspection at the regions and states with the power point.
Then, the union ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, deputy minister, regions and states chief ministers clarified the formation of regional supervisory boards and assigned duties, field inspection, completion of amending the road markings, signs and signals, installing new ones, remaining tasks to be done and work plans to be carried out. In responding to the discussions, the Union Minister Admiral Tin Aung San made a review and the meeting was concluded.
After the meeting, the Union Minister Admiral Tin Aung San together with the Union Minister for Construction, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, deputy ministers and officials made a field inspection at Pyinmana-Taung Nyo Road and ThaPyayGone roundabout where the motor cycle accidents occur frequently.
And the chief engineer (Civil) for the department of road transportation clarified the Road Safety Audit inspection findings and advices for the motor cycles to pass the roundabout safely. Regarding with the clarification, the Union Minister and party gave necessary instructions. Then, the Union Minister and party also inspected Yangon-Mandalay Highway mile post (218) road section where the most accidents occur and the chief engineer (Civil) for the department of road transportation clarified the Road Safety Audit inspection findings and advices with the maps and charts.
