Coordination Meeting: UEC held meeting with GAD and MoIP on election preparations

In the scrutinizing process for the basic population list for every citizen who are eligible to vote in the multi party democracy general election to be held in the live with the law and being complete and correct voters list, those who moved to each township and those who left, dead persons, those who are living under the law with form (66/6) of family population list are needed to scrutinize not to left behind anyone who are eligible to vote, said, the Chairman of Union Election Commission at the coordination meeting with Union Election Commission, General Administration Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Immigration and Population held at the meeting hall of UEC in the morning on Friday.

In his opening speech, the chairman of union election commission U Thein Soe said that the Union Election Commission is carrying out the preparation works to hold the multi party democracy general election in line with the state constitution (2008) after completion of the tasks under the provisions on state of emergency according to the five future programs of the State Administration Council.

In the process of compiling the voters list, the population list compiled by the township general administration department of the ministry of home affairs and the township head officer’s office of the Ministry of Immigration and Population must be based.

The commission initiated the comparison examination with ground population list for the complete and correct basic voters list which is an important task. The relevant township sub election commissions, general administration department and ministry of immigration and population need to update the examined basic voters list monthly. 

On last September 15, the coordination of pre election works such as designating places of polling stations, pre-calculation of materials used in the stations etc. at the 8 townships of Nay Pyi Taw Council area and the commission members met and coordinated with the relevant departments and officials at each township.

In addition, the commission is carrying out the scrutinizing voters list, designating polling stations and approving, calculation of polling station materials in the regions and states etc. Next, the electoral officials from Uttarathiri District and Dakkhinathiri district clarified the findings from the monthly scrutinized basic voters list and designation of 653 polling stations and requirements of polling station materials and the head officer of immigration and population department of union territory explained regarding with the scrutinizing population list.

Next, the Nay Pyi Taw Council member Col. Min Naung clarified for the convenience of the families of civil service personnel and cooperation of the relevant office of the ministry of immigration and population.

Then, the officials concerned from the general administration department and ministry of immigration and population reported to fulfill the difficulties encountered and requirements in the collaboration of union election commission, general administration department and ministry of immigration and population for the achievement of the tasks to have complete and correct voters list.

Regarding with the reports, the chairman of union election commission coordinated necessaries and concluded the meeting.
