The Union Election Commission (UEC) held a coordination meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday, to ensure successful preparation for the upcoming election.

UEC Chairman U Thein Soe said that for the next election, Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines (MEVMs) will be used nationwide to make voting faster, easier, and more transparent, and to help prevent invalid or fraudulent votes. He explained that the MEVMs met the Myanmar national standard MMS 63:2025 and have received a Certificate of Conformity (CoC).

Demonstrations and training sessions have been conducted, and thus voters can learn how to use the machines correctly, while the election staff have also been trained. The MEVMs have already been distributed to all regions and states, and officials were instructed to store and handle them carefully.

Plans for moving and setting up the machines must be systematic and financially accountable. The UEC Chairman also emphasized the importance of accurate voter lists, proper management of advance voting, and ensuring free and fair voting on election day.

UEC member U Aung Lwin Oo and regional representatives discussed the current status of MEVM distribution and election preparations. The meeting concluded with closing remarks from the UEC Chairman.
