Coordination Meeting: PM met with the Cabinet Members

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing held a coordination meeting with the Union Ministers, Regions/States Chief Ministers and Chairmen of the Self-Administered Zones and Division at his office in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

In his speech, the Prime Minister said the State Administration Council is carrying out the state duty by laying down 5-point road map and 12 objectives. Since taking the national duty, it needs to pay special emphasis in carrying of the tasks. He stressed the needs to strive for development of the nation during the tenure of taking the state duty.

Despite the challenges due to the terrorists acts and COVID-19 pandemic, the obstacles have been overcome with the decline of disease infection rate and decrease of terrorist acts. Banking process has also been back to normalcy since mid-2022.  Due to the accelerated efforts for agriculture and livestock sector, the country’s GDP has increased 2.4% in 2021-2022 fiscal year.

In 2022-2023, the GDP growth increased to 3.4%, and it is estimated to achieve further increase.  He added that systematic achievement in agriculture and livestock sectors could help in implementing the two national objectives of prosperity of the state and food sufficiency. 

He said the government is encouraging for development of MSME businesses, while providing assistance for sufficient power supply to meet the demand. He stressed the need to use fuel systematically, to carry out steel production locally, to encourage production of cement and coal in the local factories, to extract gold and timber in line with the regulations, to control the illegal extraction, to plant forest plantation for sustainability.

The Chief Ministers of Regions and States and the Chairmen of the Self-Administer Zones and Division reported on the work undertakings of respective sectors and the assistance to be provided by the union government.

The Union Minister and officials explained on the respective sectors. Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win later said that the Regions and States and the Self-Administered Zones and Division are needed to use the State Economic Development Fund effectively by allocating the fund to the businesses that actually needed for investments. He also stressed the needs to pay back the loan during the designated period.

The Prime Minister concluded that the Region and State Chief Ministers need to strive for achieving success in implementing the tasks in line with the policies.

After the meeting, the Prime Minister presented 10 billion kyats each to Sagaing and Magwe Regions and 8 billion kyats each to Bago, Mandalay, Yangon and Ayeyawady Regions for development of MSME businesses.
