Coordination Meeting: Plans for producing value-added products

A coordination meeting for listing of the Agro and livestock products was held at the Ministry of Industry on Thursday. The meeting was attended by the Union Ministers for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Cooperatives and Rural Development, Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, and Industry as well as the concerned officials.
During the meeting, the list of original products by Regions, States and Union Territory (Nay Pyi Taw) were presented, along with the list of 612 items that should be implemented as value added products. The meeting discussed to prioritize for local products with high market demand and to draw work plan and time line for MSME businesses.
The discussion also focused on granting the disbursement of loans, only to the potential businesses. Suggestion was also made to produce value-added products based on rice, fisheries and vegetable, as well as to choose the potential MSME products for One Region One Product program. It also pointed out the need to prioritize timber, bamboo and rattan industry as export items, labelling the tab “Made in Myanmar”.
The meeting emphasized the coordination among the related ministries for speedy implementation of the work procedures throughout the production chain.
